Celebs sure "cannes" rock a red carpet...

Last week, the beautiful city of Cannes welcomed artists and professionals from around the world to celebrate continue their annual tradition of celebrating cinema. Though the mission of the film festival has always been promote films and boost the film industry internationally, to the fashion world these premiers have come to mean one thing: gowns. Correction, gorgeous gowns. Not only does the festival celebrate cinema that gains widespread popularity, but also works admired for their original aim and aesthetic. Also aesthetically original? The stunning designer dresses that are works of art themselves. Here are a few of my favorites:

Gwen Stefani in custom L.A.M.B. and Kirsten Dunst in Chanel Haute Couture.
Sarah Jessica Parker in Elie Saab (left) and Lanvin (right).
Rachel McAdams in Marchesa and Linda Cardellini in Alberta Ferretti.

Which was your favorite at the Cannes Festival? Vote on the side bar or write a comment!

A Guide to Spring Style

Today, the sun came out. And stayed out.

Seattlites will agree, this is reason to celebrate. For too long our wardrobes have consisted of northfaces, wool socks, multiple layers of sweaters or shirts, and of course, the good ol' rain coat. But today, I saw something I hadn't seen on campus since last fall.

Flesh. Human flesh. Actual arms and legs! Today students said goodbye to their long underwear and hello to skirts, shorts, and t-shirts! Others may scoff at these students for their lack of clothing on a day that followed yet another terrential downpour, but I say let's embrace a little sunlight while we can! It's April for heaven's sake! So I applaud you few brave souls who chose to bare some skin today. I wish I could say the same for myself, but who am I kidding: I wore a rain coat over my t-shirt.

Nevertheless! This rare bit of sun has got me thinking about one thing: Spring, duh. With any new season comes a new wardrobe of options. A few major trends have been spotted cropping up in the places where a sunny day like today is nothing out of the ordinary in April. It is my pleasure to introduce the spring trends, in hopes of encouraging Mr. Sun to stay and see what Seattle has in stores, haha get it?!

Trend #1: HYPER COLOR.
I can't remember a season in which fashion has wrapped its arms around color like it has for spring. Whether in prints or solids, expect to see plenty of bold colors this spring. Besides, a little pop of color always looks great - especially when its popping out from beneath the drab black rain coat we must always remember to carry.

Trend #2: LACE EMBRACE.
Thank you, Madonna. Ever since last fall's resurgence of the 80's corset-clad pop icon's style, lace has been seen everywhere. This spring will be no different, but expect this flirty fabric in more romantic colors like peach or pink instead of the classic black. Whether you layer it over a tank or above a floral skirt, lace will turn any outift into sheer brilliance.

Trend #3: WHITE LIGHT.
If lace is the new cotton, then white is the new black. Fashion Week in February saw countless designers sending their angelic models out in pearly-toned garments. Try a tailored jacket, long flowy skirt or tall wedges in white this spring for a bright alternative to the gloomy grey of winter.

Michele, Agron, Morris, Riley are the Girls of Glee Glamour

As a self-described Gleek, I admit to tuning in every Tuesday night to see what the students of William McKinley High are up to next. Yes, the singing and dancing is awesome. Yes, everything that comes out of Brittany's mouth sends me into a fit of laughter. Yes, I would endure another four years of high school if it meant I could stare at Mr. Scheuster all day. Yes, I did squeal with delight when Blaine finally kissed Kurt. But what's even better than spending my Tuesday nights glued to the TV for an hour with my roommates? Spotting the gorgeous girls of Glee in nearly every magazine, wearing the most amazing outfits. Seriously, who styles these girls? Whether on the red carpet, in a magazine shoot, or walking down the street, these girls have proven that singing and dancing are not their only skills. Lea Michele has been on one Best-Dressed list after another throughout the awards seasons. Heather Morris, who we all know for her ditzy remarks and crazy awesome dance moves, has transformed her look from preppy to posh. Enjoy some of my personal favorite looks from the girls:
Lea Michele, who plays Rachel Berry, at the 2010 Emmy Awards in Oscar de la Renta.
Dianna Agron, or Quinn Fabray, in a Carolina Herrera tiered gown.

Jayma Mays, or Emma Pillsbury, at the SAG Awards wearing Jenny Packham.

And Amber Riley, who plays Mercedes, in a sequined Oliver Tolentino gown at the Golden Globes.

Which Glee Girl do you think has the best style?
